The Pre-Feeder attains three common objectives: productivity, profitability and ergonomics. The Pre-Feeder feeds cartons to a flame sealer or gluer running at speeds up to 750 m/min.
The piles of cartons staged in the Pre-Feeder are print side up, just as they come off the printing press, thereby eliminating any turning of the cartons when feeding the sealer. The Pre-Feeder forms a continuous shingle from the top of the active pile, inverts the shingle 180 degrees and feeds them into the magazine of the sealer or gluer, print side down, all the while maintaining optimum pile height in the magazine for uninterrupted production.
The in-feed pile conveyor of the Pre Feeder is at optimum height for transfer of cartons by the “feeder/operator” when used with a pallet lifting device. Proper ergonomic design may reduce the occurrence of repetitive motion injuries.
